Atlas RFID Solutions, a leading RFID system integrator based out of Birmingham, Alabama, has launched a newly redesigned website. The revamped website includes the latest information on two products targeted to the construction industry that Atlas has recently unveiled: Atlas Materials Visibility Portal (MVP) and Workforce and Organizational Planning Resource (WOPR).

For years, control of project assets in storage and laydown yards has been relinquished for the most part to craft control using manual records and files. This has resulted in significant indirect work-hours’ being expended in unnecessary locating, shaking out, and staging activities. This model has also resulted in lost or misplaced components, redundant procurement, unplanned workarounds, and schedule delays.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology now offers significant opportunities to eliminate many of these activities, craft labor hours, and risk associated with lost or misplaced components.

The Construction Industry Institute (CII) recently published a “Spotlight on RFID” article in the February 2010 edition of the CII Newsletter. The article provides valuable information on real world deployments of RFID & GPS technology to improve construction productivity and reduce costs.
